Nottingham Virtual Wallet
Nottingham City Council are ranked in top half of the table for the uptake of direct payments. Following a review of their arrangements, the council has chosen Virtual Wallet as their preferred solution.
Up to 1,200 existing direct payments across adults and childrens services will be migrated from existing arrangements to Virtual Wallet over the coming months. These include a number of individuals that currently use pre-paid cards, accounts managed by several different 'managed account' providers and some individuals that use bank accounts. Virtual Wallet will be the preferred solution for all new referrals.
By consolidating the management of direct payments, the council hopes to:
- Minimise the risk of misspent funds via improved oversight.
- Ease the pressure on their audit team via improved transparency.
- Address budget concerns via more timely and appropriate clawback of unused funds.
The council will be the first of our clients to offer our new Payroll Plus service to all of its direct payment holders. Payroll Plus is our unique collaboration with Mark Bates Insurance and Independent Living Group, which makes life simpler for those that employ their own PAs.
The council join a growing list of local authorities and Integrated Care Boards that are now part of the Virtual Wallet family:
Individuals that are affected by the change will be receiving updates from the council and PPL over the coming weeks. For more information, go to the My Virtual Wallet website.
